Raimundo Pineda is one of Venezuela's most distinguished flutist, whose artistry and leadership have left a deep mark on Latin American flute performance and education. A member of El Sistema since 1976, he has developed an exceptional career as a soloist. chamber musician, composer and pedagogue.

FLUTIST

Pineda joined the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra in 1986, serving as Principal flute from 1998 to 2018. With this renowned ensemble, he performed in numerous internatinal tours and recording under conductors as Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle and Gustavo Dudamel among other. His versatility extends to chamber music, where he founded the "Aulos" Flute ensemble, the "Inocente Carreño" Woodwind Quintet and "Miquirebo" Flute Quartet of Venezuela, showcasing the instrument's expressive possibilities in both clasical and Venezuelan traditional music. He has also been a member of "Onkora" and "Los Sinverguenzas", two ensembles that have become landmarks of Venezuelan contemporary and folk fusion, recording six albums and performing extensively across Latin America and Europe.

As an educator, Pineda has served on the faculties of the Simon Bolivar Conservatory, the Latin American Flute Academy, The National Experimental University of the Arts and the Andean itinerant Conservatory. He has trained generations of flutist whithin El Sistema and has contributed to the development of orchestral programs in countries such as The Dominican Republic, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Honduras, Belize, Portugal, Spain and the United States. He also co-edited "La Flauta en Venezuela", part of the series Flute Music From Latin American Composers by FUNVES, a cornerstone for Latin American flute repertoire.
